With the release of Rift getting closer and closer, players have been taking the initiative in creating accounts for the inbound MMO. Today, Trion Worlds celebrated hitting the rather impressive one million mark in accounts created–the game’s not even out and they’re already 1/12 the size of World of Warcraft, a large feat.
Look for Rift to drop on March 1st in North America and March 4th in Europe.

Gentlemen, start your chainsaws. The next title in Xbox’s finest shooting saga, Gears of War, has had a release date slapped down for later this year; players eager to take on the Locust horde once more will have to wait until September this year.
Gears of War 3 has been set to be the conclusion to the saga and will take place eighteen months after the previous game as the Gears face new threats from within the planet itself. The game is set to feature a new four-player co-op mode as well as a new multiplayer mode called ‘Beast Mode’ where you take on the role of the Locust horde.
A horde of new weapons include The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The OneShot, The Incendiary Grenade (lovely!), The Digger Launcher as well as variations on the classic weapons. Each weapon will have its own execution move as well.
Gears of War 3 is set for release on the 20th of September, in both North America and Europe, with news on the multiplayer public beta still to come.

This latest trailer for Crysis 2 leans towards the more epic side of things, with a sweeping score fuelling dramatic action scenes and lots of important political types shouting about humanity being screwed. It sounds pretty standard, sure, but the purdy graphics and sheer scale of action make it worth a watch.
It’s called the story trailer, but narrative definitely takes a back seat to all the shooting throughout the three minutes. We’ll probably be saying the same thing about the whole game when it launches on March 22nd and 25th in North America and Europe, respectively. Not that that’s a bad thing.
