Square Enix’s third-person shooter The 3rd Birthday is set for a drop date in the UK on April 1st. Along with the new release timing, an English trailer was also released into the wild, boasting about three minutes of running, gunning, and torn jeans.
Be prepared for some Japanese standbys, though, as heartfelt but ill timed J-pop songs, exaggerated gasps, and love stories involving spikey-haired dudes are all over the second half of this trailer. There is a juicy amount of gameplay in there though, so there is something to look forward to–unless, of course, if J-pop and spikey-haired dudes are your thing.

Surely with all these NGPs and Xperia Plays and Xperia NGPs (okay I made that last one up), Sony should be putting some thought towards the inevitable PS4? Not happening yet, says Sony boss man Kaz Hirai.
Speaking to Japanese website PC Impress Watch (which was promptly translated by Eurogamer), Hirai said: “I think the value of the PS3 will continue to rise. Because of this, a near-future PS4 or next-generation home console is not something that we are even debating now. That is to say, we are still concentrating fully upon the PS3. Right now, I appeal to you to think of the PS3 and NGP as a new, co-operative partnership.”
The CEO also commented on how we’re not even half way through the PS3′s “10 year life cycle”. Add on Microsoft’s claims of Kinect adding another four or five years onto the 360′s life and it looks like we’re still some ways off from the next generation of consoles. Look for Uncharted 6 to be the PS4′s launch title.

Dark Souls, developer FromSoftware’s followup to the brutally, brilliantly challenging Demon’s Souls, is looking appropriately life-threatening in this first gameplay trailer.
Let’s see, have we got fire-breathing dragons? Check. Gigantic murderous crows? Check. Armor plated warthogs? Check. Lava spewing hyenas? Check. The list keeps on going, as you will see when you watch the trailer, which features the moody environments, terrifying beasties and somber music that have so quickly become staples of the series. Personally, they needn’t have gone through all the trouble – they had me at dragons. Good thing too, because that half Japanese spider crab / half Sports Illustrated swimsuit model monstrosity partially glimpsed near the end of the trailer would have been a dealbreaker if I weren’t already so in love with FromSoftware’s punishing blend of exploration and evisceration. I’m looking forward to dying, a lot.
